Day at the Opera – 3 Rottweilers, 2 Rabbits, and a Singing Pigeon!

The recipient of this mug gave me a WEALTH of information about each pet, so much so, that it was so much fun designing this mug.  The mug features their three Rottweilers, two rabbits, and pet pigeon at the Opera.  Miss Pigeon is the star of the show, singing to a packed house!

First was Lulea, nicknamed Princess Lulea with her tiara.  I just love that picture, she looks so fancy!  She likes to rest her chin looking out the window over her domain.   A trip to the opera to watch over members of her own family seems just perfect for her, and a fine excuse to dress up!

Next to her is the proper chap Ulysses.  I was told Ulysses was a very well mannered Rottweiler, he liked things done by the books and got anxious if anyone broke the rules.  But for such a proper chap…he loves his stuffed cow that he’s had since he was a puppy (and why wouldn’t he bring it to the opera??)

Two pets she did not have photos for were their two rabbits, but she was able to find me photos of their breeds.

In the front row is Jean-Claude, the lop eared bunny with an attitude. The owner believes he frequently curses them out in French while smoking little bunny cigarettes. Obviously, only his beret was appropriate indoors in a non-smoking theater. Next to him is a dutch bunny named Beauregard. Now, Beau is still recovering…he fell into a sump pump and was rescued by the next pet, Max.

Max was described to me as full of personality, always wanting to be in the middle of things.  He loves cows – the real kind – and farm animals in general.  His owner told me he had unique vocalizations he would do to communicate.  It was Max’s vocalization “follow me!” that led them to find their rabbit Beau, nearly drowning.  death, and still suffering that 1000 yard stare of mortality. Max adores his farm animals, and being so vocal, would be perfect for conducting an orchestra!!

Lastly, but certainly not least, is Miss Pigeone, their pet pigeon who loves to sing along with opera. I snuck a few facts about the pet owner, she makes handmade silk Kimonos… so i figured Madame Butterfly would be the perfect opera choice!!

  1. Hi Helene,
Beautiful work! In conversation you always struck me as immensely creative. It took me a while to get over here to your site. I’m happy for you that you’ve found something you love. Glad to have made your acquaintance and hope our paths cross in the future. I remember our two hikes like it was yesterday, maybe we can do that again one day.
I wish you all the success you can stand
